چکیده

In this paper, two Piezo-Based Rotating Inertial Actuators (PBRIAs) are considered for the suppression of the structure-borne noise radiated from rotating machinery. As add-on devices, they can be directly mounted on a rotational shaft, in order to intervene as early as possible in the transfer path between disturbance and the noise radiating surfaces. generate the appropriate actuation signals, relying on a linear interpolation scheme to approximate time varying secondary plants. The proposed active vibration control approach is tested on an experimental test bed comprising a rotating shaft mounted in a frame to which a noise-radiating plate is attached. The disturbance force is introduced by an electro-dynamic shaker. The experimental results show that when the shaft spins below 180 rpm, more than a 7 dB reduction can be achieved in terms of plate vibrations, along with a reduction in the same order of magnitude in terms of noise radiation. & 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Active Structural Acoustic Source Control of Rotating Machinery Using Piezo Bearings

This work covers the design of active structural acoustic source controllers, where the aim is to reduce radiated noise by placing actuators as close as possible to the disturbance source, in order to intervene as early as possible in the transfer path between disturbance and noise radiators. The considered application is rotating machinery, where the noise is periodic with a fundamental freque...

Filtered-X LMS versus repetitive control for active structural acoustic control

This presentation investigates Active Structural Acoustic Control (ASAC) of rotating machinery with high modal density, by placing actuators as close as possible to the noise source. For this purpose, an experimental set-up has been built, as discussed in [3]. The set-up consists of a shaft supported by two bearings, of which one is made “active” by mounting piezo-actuators around it, to influe...

Active structural acoustic control of rotating machinery using an active bearing

This paper presents an active bearing for reducing the radiated noise of rotating machinery. This modular bearing uses piezo stacks for actuation and both force and acceleration measurements as sensing signals. The bearing is tested on an experimental test bed comprising a rotating shaft, which is mounted in a frame. Noise is radiated by a plate that is attached to the frame. The set-up is desi...

A piezo-based rotational inertia shaker for the active control of rotating machinery

This paper presents an axisymmetric rotational inertia shaker for reducing the structure borne noise radiated by rotating machinery. This modular inertia shaker uses a piezostack to generate a compensating force on a rotating element by accelerating a ring shaped mass. The piezostack is controlled using an adaptive shunt circuit, which emulates the impedance of a variable inductance. The inerti...

A Novel Intelligent Fault Diagnosis Approach for Critical Rotating Machinery in the Time-frequency Domain

The rotating machinery is a common class of machinery in the industry. The root cause of faults in the rotating machinery is often faulty rolling element bearings. This paper presents a novel technique using artificial neural network learning for automated diagnosis of localized faults in rolling element bearings. The inputs of this technique are a number of features (harmmean and median), whic...
